“Tip tip barsa paani, aur paani mein aag lagaye”. Oh! Raveena and her thumkas were some class apart , not that she isn’t still but she actually set fire to the water with that song. Anyway , hello you all fashionistas and let’s see what have the tinsel townies planned for this monsoon and whether it can set the rains on fire.
MONOTONE IT UP
Looks like the monotone dresses are so in this monsoon. Best part about monotones :can be worn any time anywhere, add some dark lipstick, bling and heel up and you are good to go for that dinner date , or simply tone it down with a high pony, barely there make-up and gloss is a must . Pair it with some gladiator and bangles, you are up and ready for the brunch out with your girlies! You would get loads of these dresses, tops and skirts at Lokhandwala market and Forever21 outlets across Mumbai.
UMM…UM… WHICH UMBRELLA?
Come on! We all want that super chic, awesome, style statement umbrella every monsoon. Starting from the long Victorian era inspired umbrella finished with the perfect frill at the edge to the trendy music doodle print umbrella, there is one for all in the stores. Check out some of such pretty umbrellas at Hill road and Linking road, Bandra. Want something little different, yet wanna stick to black check out the Alexander McQueen which comes with a skull shaped handle. Best part the stores are right here in Mumbai.
FLIP IT FLOP IT
Want that dash of colour to this gloomy day? . Try out the funky flip flops, available in the funkiest of colours and shapes. They are usually for beach bums, but hey, they are super cool for monsoon. Pssstt… they dry out super fast, no mess. Yet, they end up making you look so classy! Go on, grab one from Linking road, Bandra.
RIP IT UP!
RIPPED JEANS are so trendy this monsoon. Ditch your plain denims and try out the btown incoming trend . Toss in a baggy tee, or a sheer with it and you are so good to go. Add on could be a bikers jacket, some bling (don’t over accessorize) . Ripped jeans can be DIY. Grab a pair of your old jeans and run some blades across it. Make sure you don’t rip it too much, you don’t want to look trashy. Or else, simply head to Forever 21 (Oberoi Mall, Goregaon, Infinity Mall, Malad and Viviana Mall, Thane). They have the best stocked ripped jean I have seen.
CUT IT SHORT
Keep it short this monsoon and go leggy( ladies, time to clean those legs up) to avoid puddles and splashes. Pair a couple of culottes with a crop top or swing top, taking care of you not getting drenched and yet making you look like someone straight out of a style mag. And all you MEN can pick up a tip here. You too can go for shorts. Although its alluding to women but carry that “don’t care” attitude with you and splash some cool cologne and work your charm. Hunt them down at any stores or stalls across the Lokhandwala market, Linking road and Hill road at throw away prices and best of the best trends.
Pack up your Hidesigns and Burkins for the next three months, if you don’t want them to go bad. Go for waterproof, flashy colours are a must or cheap and punk canvas backpacks. Sold prominently at Mumbaikar’s favorite bag destination in the city, Bandra.
1)Chiffons, georgette, malmals, sheer, are a must haves during monsoon. They dry up faster than you realize, and no doubt when you are little drenched makes gives you the feel of “ek ladki bheegi bhaagi si” , totally sexy.
2)Short is good, full length denims and maxis are out. Add neon. They are awesome in the gloom. 3)Try vintage this season if you know how to carry it off.
4)Scarves can be a good added accessory. Dear men, don’t be carried away with the thought that scarves are for woman. You can try them on as well. Go on, give it a try.
Have fun this monsoon, with the newest trends setting fashion in the town. This city of dreams ensembles lifestyle, luxury and dreams, ofcorse. Mumbai monsoon is beautiful. Live. Soak. Repeat.
