“Exhilarating”, “happening”, “chic” are some words coined just for a place right in the middle of Mumbai- BANDRA, the Queen of Mumbai Suburb. Known for being the paradise for shoppers, nightlife, hangouts and hands down “celebrity quotient” factor adds to the fervor.

Funfact: Bandra, like Mumbai, once had its own municipality (along with other suburbs) and later in the year of 1957 merged with the Bombay Municipal corporation.  Thus, Bandra has an identity of its own.
The most amazing feature about this locality is the fact that along with being one of the trendiest, posh and modern places it retains a huge part of its old glory featured by the architectures and spatial characteristics. It will be definitely hard to come by such a place which has something to offer for one and all.

The shops are stocked up with modish dresses to trendy shoes, hot pants, lovely accessories and hip apparels to go with, for the ladies and men are stocked up at bargain prices. Areas like Hill Road and Linking Road are the hubs for the fashionistas. Whats more, ladies go ahead and splurge and don’t forget to bargain. Apart from fashion try out the Pali Market. No no! this aint just another fashion market. You find the best , most exotic fresh produce here. Starting from the slightly over ripe avocado to perfectly pickled asparagus you name it and it is there. But mind you , you must bargain for your supper. And the number of small niches like The Gear: the bike store, Mela and much more to add to your delight. Just keep your eyes peeled.

Theobroma, Hearsch Bakery, the famous Le15 Pattisserie, the veteran American Express Bakery,Bandra is virtuously famed for its bakeries.  They are so good that you would drop your diet chart now and nibble on the best brownies ever from Western Bakeries. Visit the age old Chinese restaurant Stomach , with quantity which is filling and taste which will make your eyes roll up! Gostana Bagel shop, Sante, Candies are your starters. A must have are the pistachio cookies from Just Around the Corner, a cosy little place just cut out for hanging out with your group of friends. Andoras, bang opposite the Andrew’s College is famous for it’s Chicken Croissant. Also, Bandra is peppered with the the famous fast food chains like KFC, Subway, Venky’s, McDonalds. Also try the Alco Market Food Joint at Hill Road for Chaats, Samosas and kachoris. As, I said you will be definitely get spoilt for choices if you roam the streets of Bandra, an absolute and pure form of delight for the Foodies. The Sassy Spoon and Global Fusion are must visits for their luxe, global cuisine and famed stature.

Ladies, put on that pointy high heels and sequined top and guys, go with the casual and don’t forget to splash some cologne and your charm and pursue the flighty temptress called the night. Bandra voices the fact that Mumbaikars never sleep. With the most happening and hip night life in the city of Mumbai, Bandra is charmer to every party lovers. The most sought after clubs in Bandra are Salt Water Cafe, Royalty, Esco Bar, Bora Bora, Toto’s Garage, Doolally Taproom, Hakkasan, Hawaiian shack, The Big Bang Bar,  Lemon Grass and many more hippier joints, the list is literally exhaustive. Eat , Drink, dance and check out the Sauvé crowd that files in these discotheques.

Bandra is known for the very famous house of King Khan –“Mannat”. And wouldn’t want a piece of that celebrity status? Bandra has one of the highest Commercial rentals at BKC. It is also quite well known for government organizations Family Court and MHADA Office. For the rich and famous there is the Carter road, Waterfield, KHAR link road, Hill road and locations in abundance near the Jogger’s park and Pali hills. These places are best known for the old styled houses, architecture and of course, the not to miss the elite’s and their status quo.

Need a break? Take a walk along the Carter road or the very famed Bandstand. These tracks have been extremely famous among the movie- makers. Also a good look out is the Bollywood walk of Fame at located at the Bandstand promenade.  For serenity and a standing proof for “old is gold” a must visit is the Mt. Mary Church. The architectural splendor is to die for. Other famous churches ( Bandra is as Catholic as it could get) are St. Andrew’s , St. Peters and Mount Carmel. All of them Known for their extravagance architecture . A spectacular and a hub for photographers is the Bollywood Graffiti wall.  Also a must check out is the Tata Agiary and Parsi Fire Temple.  Last but not the least is the Bandra Worli Sea Link. A view to die for this has made made the definition of transportation and connectivity of Bandra paramount.

This place is pot of various communities starting from Muslims to Christians to Hindus to Zoroastrians.  Thus, this place a bite of everything mixed into an exotic delicious dish. One will visit here and wonder truly “diversity at its best” right here in the middle of Mumbai.
