“Beautiful things don’t ask for attention“

This quote from ‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty’ is an apt description of some unassuming restaurants in Mumbai. Snuck in quiet corners of the city, these are genuinely one of a kind experiences in a world of much hyped theme restaurants serving specialty cuisines at exorbitant rates. But yet the uniqueness quotient is simply to die for. Here are some picks.

CAFÉ MONDEGAR

CAFÉ MONDEGAR

My favorite among the off- beat cafes, a place which is as amazing when I hang out with my gang of gals or simply sit alone for some great me time.
LOOK OUT FOR:The wall murals are really something to look out for and have become something synonymous with Mondy. The cafe is extremely popular with the foreigners and youngsters alike. Its bang at the start of the famous Causeway, Colaba. It’s a big hit because of the Juke box, Finger- licking Food and Beer. Come and relax into this cozily nestled restaurant and have a gala time.

BAYVIEW

Its’ surprising that Mumbai being a coastal city doesn’t have many restaurants that allow you to enjoy the sea breeze. But rest at peace. Here is an abode for the sea lovers. For those who want the same view as the Taj at one twentieth the cost, this open air restaurant perched on the rooftop of Strand Hotel is a good no-frills option. With a spectacular view of the Gateway of India against the backdrop of flickering lights and the fishing boats in the Arabian sea, it’s probably the only roof top restaurant in Bombay that doesn’t cost a bomb, is absolutely laid back and in-tune with Bombay’s chilled out attitude.
LOOKOUT FOR:Open air( the gushing sea breeze is sure to rejuvenate you) , reasonably Priced, great food, OPEN ALL AROUND THE CLOCK.
WHERE: Hotel Harbour View, Kerawala Chamber, Opposite Radio Club, 25, J P Ramchandani Marg, Colaba.
